A PUBLIC meeting is to be held in Redford to give villagers the chance to air their views on plans to set up a £17m boarding school for disadvantaged children in the former St Cuthman’s School at Stedham.

The meeting has been called by members of Woolbeding with Redford Parish Council so the council can gauge local opinion before they discuss the plans.

Chairman of the parish council Anne Reynolds told the Observer: “The parish council understands many local people are worried about the impact of the school on the tranquil rural nature of the parish and also have voiced concerns about the access routes and highway safety.

“The meeting has been called in order to best represent the parish when considering the proposed planning application.”

The meeting will take place in Redford Village Hall at 7.30pm on Monday (January 9).

It follows a public meeting in Stedham in November when Stedham, Woolbeding and Redford villagers gathered in Stedham Memorial Hall to hear a presentation from one of the project leaders, executive head of the Durand Academy in South London, Greg Martin.
