YOUNG footballers from Petworth, St James’, Northchapel, Bury and Fittleworth primary schools and Duncton Junior School battled it out for the Petworth Area Schools (PAS) Cup.
Chelsea Foundation coaches hosted the league style tournament at Petworth Primary School which saw home team Petworth beaten in the final by Fittleworth who were unbeaten in the competition and triumphed 3-1 to win the cup. The final followed a morning of football matches with a standard of play which impressed the coaches.
Chelsea Foundation community coach Dan Medhurst said: “The winning side were great but all the teams had some really good players, it was very good.
“This was the first tournament we’ve done, as the Chelsea Foundation, for the PAS area and the children really enjoyed it.
“The fact that Stamford the Lion came along was also really great for the kids, they absolutely loved him.
“It was a really enjoyable afternoon and not just because of the talent on display in the tournament, it was also great to see the kids enjoying themselves so much.
“There were a lot of smiles both in the playground and on the football pitches.”
